Running new fuel Line (Any Tricks of the Trade)

All,
I am going to replace the fuel line that runs from my tank aft to my Racor that is mounted on the back wall of the transom. The existing line runs through a tube that terminates back there. Is there any tricks to doing this or anything that I need to be aware of prior to attempting. My thought was to duct tape the old and new fuel line together including a cord (backup) pulling the new one while I pull the old out. Any thoughts would be appreciated especially if you have attempted this on a similar model.
Bob - Any insider knowledge from the factory perspective?
Thanks in advance,
Bruce

I have done this in the automobile world and it might work. It all depends on how much air gap is there in the pass throughs.
first buy a piece of alluminum tubing and slip that in the end of the hose by the tank. The tube should be about an inch.
second Connect new hose to the tube and make sure the tube is centered between both hoses.
third start 10 inches back from center with electrical tape very thin overlap and go 10 inches past center. Now you should have 20 inches of electric tape with the tube in the center.
forth lube lube lube and when you think you are done lube more. Try to lube or silicon spray the old hose as much as possible.
then have a friend pull the old hose from the seperator side while you push the new hose.
hopefully your electrical tape is thin enough to get through the passage holes.
good luck

That idea to use the metal tubing is a good one!
If you wanted to take it a step further, you could use some round swedge crimpers and crimp the tube to the hoses, then wrap with the tape, then the lube.

I use a hose barb union and cover it with duct tape. I've actually torn the hose before the connection failed...
