Bilge pumps in flatbacks
« on: August 10, 2013, 06:13:49 PM »
How do you guys mount your bilge pumps so that you get the maximum amount of water out?  Since there really isn't much of a low spot in the bilge, as you would find on a boat with some amount of deadrise, it seems like there would always be a decent amount of water in the boat.  Mounting the pump on a 1/2" - 3/4" pad doesn't help the situation.

Do you just mount it as low and close to the transom as possible, and run the boat with the bow up until you remove as much water as possible?  Or is there a special kind of bilge pump designed for flat bilges?

52million the screen/base right to the hull. As far back as practical. Wont get it all out but forward movement of the boat oughta keep it minimal...

52million...I like that!

What I would suggest too, Craig.  Both the pump base and the float.

While these boats are at rest a little water will set in the V
Once moving forward or on the lift/trailer everything rolls back to the bilge, originally they had no bilge
