Alrite, hello folks from the lowcountry of S.C. Just made a trade on a 83 osprey 170! Aquasport had been sitting under some oaks and full of leaves. 2 gallons of bleach uncovered a deal, hull good with no soft spots. Transom, bow and decking in great shape. A bit overpowered with a pro series Johnson 150.. Pulled coffin cover and revealed the tank, "no good"... Removed and begin the process, would like to strip ,remove decals and paint. Best of all it's the granddaddy of the cc, proud to be the new owner!

Welcome aboard!  I have a 1987 170 and I love it.   Does your 170 have the two tone white and gray? Or is it just all white?

A 150 is way overpowered!  LOL.  Mine has a 90hp and she really moves out so a 150 would downright fly!  I'd be a tad worried about how low the stern sites in the water with that big of a motor on the back.  Post some pics of your new ride when you get a chance!

You are rite! When I picked her up there was a small bilge mounted at the scupper dam"FLAG"...
I did notice a jack plate and a 6" alum plate mount atop the transom. I will repower if ness but for now there is much to do. I did post some picks, grey and white sides and decking. Would like to paint hull white or ice blue. Any suggestions? Thanks from Charleeston.

Welcome aboard fellow Carolinean!

That little boat will go great with a 75 or a 90.  A 150 on that hull is a bat out of hell, and frankly, dangerous. Ran a 19-6 with a Johnson 150 six-cylinder 2 stroke....above 43 mph, she got nasty.

Forget the HP, you'll probably change it anyway....welcome aboard :thumright:

Welcome aboard!  Wow another 1983! And, it has the blue rubrail and the hook on the P! The gray on your hullsides is different than most of the later 170s and 222s. It looks like the entire hullside is gray, then the bottom is white.
