Pixiefish 1960's Aquasport 222 camping swimming platform
« on: July 23, 2013, 02:15:21 PM »
RE: Pixiefish a Salvage yard 22 foot Aquasport Center console fishing boat turned into a swimming and camping platform. A work in progress.

About 13 years ago while going through a divorce I wanted to move up from a 17 foot boat to one my family could go out on for the day or maybe take a little roughing in trip for a day or two and I just didn't have the cash to buy something I liked.  This posting is the story of how I got there.  There have been several moments where I doubted the sanity of taking this route.  All in, its has been a rewarding project, an expression of creativity and many nights of dirty hands, sore back and knees.  I will publish the photos of my voyage and perhaps if the forum will permit even some of the life events lived through this project.  All the work has been done by myself and occasionally had the help and company of a few good friends to share in the labor of love.  I don't work on boats for my livelihood just as a passion

I would love to hear from you if you are interested in my story.

Rick

Rick,
This is first and foremost a rebuild forum. We get a large number of "start to finish" projects. Many go months without updates and others fly right along. A good number though "die" without any follow up. Yes, members sometimes start new threads (professional captains seem best at this) and share their "new" old classic with us but again, some just drift away from the Forum and that's it.

Your "rebuild" thread is coming from a somewhat different angle (kind of like a Lucas movie) and I too feel it is a tale that needs to be told. You've tease us with the completed pics so give us the "rest of the story".

Good luck and let the journey begin.  :thumright:

The stripers are crazy this year!  I live right on the harbor and they are chopping up the water infront of the house daily.

I'll try to start some posting this week.  Thanks for the interest.
