Cooked ground cable ???
« on: July 22, 2013, 02:01:28 PM »
Installing the new Yami kicker this last weekend.
Power cable leads where a little different that came with the new motor
Decided to change to the new cable....... the one in the boat had been there since 91.
Wasn't looking forward to changing it out, runs around the stringer to the bilge and hooks up to a buss bar mounted back there.
While upon getting it out, this is what it I found
This is the end in the bilge

What the heck would cook a ground cable short of hooking it up wrong ?
Appears to have happened some time ago

Lower cable is the positive one. Where the shielding is scored it is not all the way through the rubber

Any whos I be glad I changed it out.

That's definitely Positive (+) to Ground at some time in its life, then once the wire was exposed, the corrosion took over, cant believe it was still conducting in that condition, good thing you caught it.
