Lid Latches for Pounding Hatches

The two large lids/hatches over the two compartments on the front deck of my '99 200 Osprey rise-up and slam down in rough water, creating a racket. Any recommendations for latches? I'm considering black rubber "One Piece Flexible Handle Latches" from Southco.com, but they may work to hold shut only the aft hatch since it offers a vertical surface (the step up) to attach the lower latch hardware to. The forward hatch sits flush with the deck, offer no such surface. Any advice? Has anyone installed twist and lift or other latches to replace the simple through-lid lift pin types that are standard and leave the lids loose, that might work in my situation?

Southco makes a fine product. Orca also. An old trusted brand is Perko.

I'm trying some Southco latches, two models: the C7 Draw Latch for the big lid and the M1-64-1 twist and pull for the forward one. Will report on how they work when I get time to install them!

Rick, I was looking at them too. I looked around the internet to get some feedback on quality and if left me thinking that you don't get what you don't pay for. In any event if you decide to buy from them, could you please offer some insight to their products. If I decide to buy from them I will do the same.

Nope Rick.  We went to them at PL on 26' and over, Johnny Walker fell in love with them at either Miami or Lauderdale, circa '07.  Our cost was way up there over what we had been using (Orcas twist lock types), he didn't care.  But they ARE sweet pieces of hardware...

Southco compression latches were used on our transom bait boxes later on. The Orca's are good (used in the cockpit, etc.).  The Southco's are great.

 Set it and forget it.

The rat boat had the large C-9 southco latch on it.  Most of the ones I found were STUPID expensive....  then I thought of McMaster...  yup way cheaper and I had them the NEXT day.
