Offshore Bradenton 35 miles
« on: July 14, 2013, 09:29:27 PM »
My father booked a charter with Sam Kimball to catch some grouper and snapper on July 7.  We loaded up at 8 am with a full live well.  Off we went in 2-3 footers with bigger swells mixed in.  We got offshore, anchored up and started fishing.  We all got rocked or broke off a few times.  We got a nice mixed bag of red grouper, scamps, lane snapper, and rudder fish.   I posted pics in the gallery but I'm having trouble posting them with my iPhone.

What boat is he running offshore?  See he ties up behind Annie's, used to get my bait there when I fished that area. Annie's has like been there forever!  You guys head out around the N end of AMI, or go out through Longboat Pass?

Nothing to do with fishing.. but more with your image.  I lived in Tampa for many years (76-90).  When I left the dominating radio station was 95YNF.  Matter of fact the best were 95ynf 98Rock and Q105 depending on mood, but nothing beat Ron and Ron in the morning on 95ynf.

Forward 20 years.  I move back to Florida, and  I am in Tampa this past weekend.  Tune to 95ynf... and I hear CRAP.  What the hell happened?

Thank god 98Rock was still playing something worth listening to.

That (I think) is why it is upside down. Kind of the dead mule thing.

95ynf was the best.  98 rock is still one of the best I have heard.

We went out on a 30' sabalo with twin 300 yamahas.  It's a sweet setup to fish out of.  It just works great.  Not a fast boat by any means.  But we managed 20 knots in mediocre conditions.

We went out of longboat pass.  My old stomping grounds. I was raised up on the canal near Annie's on the north side of Cortez rd.

AK,
Annie's is on 127th st, if you kept going by Annie's 'til it took that hard right, there was a couple docks on a vacant lot right on the ICW.  Know where that is?  We fished the hell out of those docks for years...mangos, trout, reds, snook, sheepies in the winter.  Big ole house on that property now...
