Smart HDTV
« on: June 28, 2013, 08:14:32 PM »
Anyone have one of the new smart TV's. I have been looking for a 26-29" tv for my back porch, and found some models now have built in Wifi.  You can also buy a dvd player that has built in Wifi, if you don't have it on the tv.

Just wondering how well they work.

Smart TV?  I guess some of us might be kind of old-school - but it IS color!

I use a Sony Blu-Ray DVD with a wired internet connection and it works very well. I would think a WiFi unit will work as good as your WiFi network allows it.
I have both wired and wireless networks at home but use the wireless strictly for my mobile devices. My desktops are all wired. That's why I went with the wired DVD player.

Good luck.

It's a model BX110, Costco special.

Small, very techie looking (compared to every other DVD player I own) and priced right. Plays all my old discs so far and the Publix Redbox ones.

I just can't bring myself to spend a fortune on video because after watching for about an hour, everything starts to get fuzzy anyway.
The HDTV is a Sony/Costco special also and the whole affair has worked great.

Maggie uses it to route Netflix through it from the computer...as well as an occasional DVD here and there...

Costco has the deals on TV's.

We go there all the time. The Admiral doesn't like me to look at the flatscreens, since we already have one....but they just keep getting bigger...and clearer...and sharper....and more colorful....

Our local Costco averages $360,000 a day in revenue. They did $110 million last year. The store's budget for next fiscal year is $116 million.

That's A LOT of chicken

And A LOT of toilet paper

That looks like the one we had when I was a kid except ours was only B&W.

Can't speak for the smaller sized ones, but I have a LG Led,HD3D 50 inch that has great picture quality and has wifi on it..the only complaint I have is the wifi on the TV is slower that our laptop on wifi in the house so we know it's not the router for the wifi, just the way the tv processes the signal...yes I would buy another LG of any size :thumright:

If your looking for one that will take a bit of abuse....Hot to cold to hot to humid I had a 32 vizio 1080p 3d ready from WWorld bolted to a mount in my tractor trailer for almost 250k miles east coast to west coast north to south. 115 to -40 never ever had a hiccup. Now it is in our bedroom and still going strong. Like the stuff built for boats, stuff that is used in trucks must be built to take huge amounts of abuse. I would highly recommend them to anyone that ask.
