roll and tip method
« on: June 28, 2013, 01:50:52 PM »
when rolling and tipping- do you do anything special with the brush? I found towards the end the brush would get "dried out" or saturated and would leave fine brush lines... on my next coat I was going to either get multiple brushes or see if putting it in something like acetone or 333 would help...

Thanks!

BTW- I'm using Brightsides..

Personally never had any luck with the roll and tip method, but patience isn't one of my virtues.  Tried it when doing my bottom job, finally just went with a foam roller, but thats on the bottom...

Going on the assumption you may have missed this, here's a good read (found in our Resource forum). :thumleft:

Here are the instructions (from above link) dealing with your question.

Clean the tipping brush with solvent every single time it is used. This keeps the brush from loading up and brush strokes in the paint unbelievably fine, hence they flow out and level as the paint sets.

Good luck.

Capt. Bob is correct, if you keep the brush clean after every area of use you will get a much cleaner finish.I learned it the hard way first time around and then went and watched the video on shipshape TV..and it worked better..

same here,,, first side and even 1/2 way up the 2nd side turned out great,,, but towards the bow onthe 2nd side, i could really notice some brush lines. took advantage of all this rain the past few days and did some 220 and 320 wet sanding, surface is like glass now for the next (hopefully final) coat.
