Amplifier mounting in a 175
« on: June 12, 2013, 09:49:26 PM »
Well I haven't posted much here yet, been busy making our new boat our own. I'm in need of some photos of where people have mounted their amps. My console is a mess and I want to clean it up while doing some minor rewiring and mounting the amp. Anything will help. Thanks!  I have been taking photos along the way and will post them when we are done with this project.

To be honest with you, you don't need an amp in a 175.  A good quality head unit and a pair of excellent, EFFICIENT speakers, and you're good to go.

Well I picked up a set of jl 7.7 and an jl amp on the cheap so I have them now. I was going to use just an iPod with no head unit. I have realized there isn't a lot of room in there.

The JL stuff is excellent...sooooo, mount the amp up high, spray the contacts down with anti-corrosion.  Including the terminals on the back side of the speakers.

I will tomorrow, I'm on shift today. Is there a tap talk or app for this forum?

Why so funny?  Tap talk works well for most forums.

You'll have to ask RickK or CB if Tapatalk has been installed/activated for this forum...

Good job!
I wonder why they had a battery disconnect on the negative post. The only thing I see you need is a battery tray for the number two battery and battery terminal boots to comply with the coast guard regulations.

Much much better.  I love the System Check tag on the oil tank, original.  I always took them off when I installed oil tanks, some guys didn't...

Why so funny?  Tap talk works well for most forums.

It's funny if you understand the position some members have about the Forum server and its ownership.
That stated, knowledge of same would indicate a strong presumption that no, it doesn't exist on this Forum and that it would need to be installed.
To be absolutely positive of that statement, Fearless Leader has requested an answer to this question from the IT tech.
I could be wrong but you never know till you ask.

It seems however, you have no problem posting photos and if you understand the process (and it appears you do) behind a "tap talk" app, then the method of posting pics either in the Forum Photo Gallery or by a third party hosting site is quite easy really, I think you would agree. :thumright:

We'll let you know what comes up from the IT guy.
