The 3 second urges will continue but will happen less often.
Stay vigilant, even though you don't think so, you've already knocked it. Now start thinking of something else

It slowly gets easier. About day 10 I was tinkering with something out in the garage and out of the blue damn near had a panic attack. It passed in a few minutes and has gradually gotten easier. Keep your brain and hands busy. When that urge hits, take a few deep breaths and find something to occupy your mind.

I quit 32 years ago. Best thing I ever did. If you have gone 2 weeks you have it made, just don't do something stupid like " Oh I will just have one here while I drink this beer" If you do you can start all over again.

Had to go back to the start of this thread ......
Memory ain't what it used to be
Anyways it looks like I be going on day 42 ....or so
Almost had a setback in Hawaii tho
Sitting on our balcony one night I decided I deserved a cigar .....
I have always been a sucker for a fine cigar
I Wandered down to the gift shop .....
Low and behold
they where closed....
They had a sign in the window stating they would be back in 10 minutes.....
When I saw that sign in the window I pretty much come to the conclusion .....
Some one......
besides my family .....
is telling me .....
give it up

From a fellow quiter stay away at least a year. It has been 8 years since I quit and it took a year before all of the dreams, urges, smells and desires finally left.
Each day eas better then the previous but once I hit the 1yr mark all gone.
Good luck.

Don't know you, but I'm with you brother. My dad was a 1.5 to 2 pack a day smoker for almost 65 years. Decided to quit cold turkey. Went great, he didn't even miss it. Lucky bastage. I have been a 1+ can a day dipper for 40 years and cannot make it past 3 hours. Maybe this will help motivate me.

Way to go Bill!!
Johnny,
I'm a dipper too. It is a bad addiction. It delivers seven times the nicotine of a cigarette...faster.

Congrats!
I too am a former smoker. I quit about 8 years ago. There are times when I still want one but the urges get easier to handle. I found a lot of help from an online community called QUITNET. Do a google search, lots of great people there.
