Day 12
« on: May 14, 2013, 01:01:16 AM »
This be day 12 since I have not had a smoke.
After better than 40 years of puffing I have had enough
Fed tax is $1.01 per pack, Wa.state tax is $3.02 per pack plus another 8.9% sales tax  on top of all the other taxes making for better than $5.00 per pack in taxes.
Wa. state is talking about adding another .80 cents and DC wants to add another .94 cents in taxes.

These tax and spend bastards ain't getting no more blood out of this turnip.......

I QUIT!!!!

Seriously .....
I have tried quitting before...never made it more than 12 hours.
Only thing different this time is....ever time I think of stopping to get a pack of smokes, instead of thinking about what it is doing to my health....I think about the 5 bucks I won't be letting someone in Olympia or DC piss away .

It's working for me   :pirat:
Forgive me guys :(  I've been a wee bit grumpy lately :bounce:

12 days - you have it licked
Now you just need to fight it 3 seconds at a time since the urges last about 3 seconds.  It'll take a while for those to go away but it gets easier.

Congrats Bill. Been there done that also, and made it 10 years ago.

It's going on day 13
Thanks for the encouragement guys..Lord knows I am going to need it.

Your right Scotty, I have not been around much lately...been trying to stay busy, keeps my mind off of smoking.
Life should start slowing down here shortly, shop is coming into our slow season, Brent car is getting closer to getting on the road, he should be driving it in about a month. When that's done it will free up every night and weekend. :D
Got most of my spring yard work done.
About time to start paying some attention to the old boat, she's been ignored for 2 months now.

Thanks

That's great Bill, keep it up! I know how you feel, I was a pack a day smoker for many many years and today is 125 days no tobacco for me.

Stick with it, it's the best thing you can do for yourself and family.

Thanks to my wife for sticking by me on this, she has been a real trooper!

My hat is off sir!!!!  That is a huge step to take and COPD is a total beeeech too.  My Mom was 3 packs a day for 30 years and went cold turkey.. Her lungs cleared up and she could out work us all and had a nose for cigarette smoke that was any devious kids nightmare, no sneaking butts for us..

Keep up the good work, we're pulling for you!

Personally, I can smell a fly farting at 50 yards out.

I eat something for breakfast everyday now, I used to only have coffee.

Food is so good my mouth waters frequently throughout the day.

I'm a good 13 pounds heavier than ever before.

None of my clothes fit anymore.

I feel amazing, I sleep better than ever!

I think it was easier to bury my dog when he died back in '92 than it is to quit for good.

The list goes on....

See Bill, lots of stuff to look forward to, hang in there baby!  :afro:

Just remember - fight it 3 seconds at a time.  Much easier that way.
