Are longer hoses an option?  Or do they offer extension hoses?  Maybe you can install it inside your console.

Good thought.
I originally located the pump in my console in the CCP. I had enough hose but I can't recall if I purchased with longer hoses.
Seems 22' rings a bell.
In any case, Bennett can get what length you need.

You are limited with your model and I've seen installs above deck. Still, if you can get it relocated to the console, that would help protect the pump from the elements. It's not so much the distance between the pump and the actuator (when properly bled) but rather keeping the tubing the same length (as much as possible). This helps the tabs to respond in the same manner (reduces delay between the two tabs).

I'm fortunate in that I was able to mount the pump in my WAC in the port compartment where the remote oil tank (and the battery location once was) resides. To keep the tubes the same length, I have a big loop that compartment so the port hose is equal to the starboard. Seems to work well..

Good luck with this project and keep posting your install pics. :thumright:

Thanks guys.  Just for the record it's a 22 Family Fisherman (cuddy cabin) so the run to the cabin versus a center console version is a little longer.  If I can mount the pump up in the cabin with no performance issues then that's probably what I'll do.  It's at least 15' though, is that distance OK?  If it is, then I can keep the hoses basically the same length and run them together all the way up.  That would solve a lot of my problems with pump location and hose routing.  There really aren't any other storage/mounting options for that pump.

That will work fine.  If you need longer tubing let me know and we can send it to you for the cost of shipping only.

Wow!  I am planning on adding tabs to my 22-2 when the rebuild gets closer to being finished.  Wasn't sure which brand to go with, but I gotta say, Bennett's customer service seems to be above and beyond my expectations!  I think I found a winner!  Well done!

Tom,
I measured (roughly) from the port side which is the furthest, to where I'm thinking of mounting the pump in the cabin and it is roughly 22' minimum to 25' max.  I'm being safe to account for a curves and loops.  Can I get the hoses in one continuous length so I don't have to couple it?

So I'll need the hose, 2 nipples (2 1/2"if possible), 2 90's and the kit should have everything else right?  I might be able to get the nipples and 90's locally so then all I would need is the hose.

Also, what is the best way to contact you, should I just PM you here or contact you through Bennett?

Thanks again, Tom, and thanks to all for the tips and advice.  Knowing that I can mount the pump further away from the transom opened up more options for me that i hadn't been thinking of.  I thought it had to be close to the transom and as I said, this boat just doesn't have any storage compartments or below deck space to mount the pump.

Dan,

Call M.J. Thomas at our factory 954-427-1400.  I spoke with him this morning and he is waiting to hear from you.  Tell him you are "Dan from Nantucket"!

I think i found a spot for the pump.  If I put an access plate or hatch right around where the rusty old radio mount is in this pic:

Then I would be able to mount the pump to the rear cabin bulkhead but on the helm side rather than inside the cabin.  It seems to be a pretty wide open void in that area below the helm and then I wouldn't have to worry about it getting bumped into inside the cabin.  With a hatch there I could access it to view the fluid level.  Only drwaback would be I'd have to leave enough slack in everything in order to be able to remove it from the mount and bring it closer to the access hatch/plate for maintenance.  Plus I'm now planning to run the hoses along with the contol rigging and it would come out of the rigging tube, run under the throttle control and right into the pump.  Again, I continue to struggle with lack of storage and mounting options....

I got my care package from Tabman today!  Extended hoses, nipples and 90's.  Thanks again, Tom, for the extra parts and for the advice.  Got the pump mounted up near the helm (pics to follow).  Still undecided on the routing, mostly for the port side.  Still planning to get the two hoses together at the motorwell boot and run them with the rigging up to the pump, but...

This is the quickest, easiest and least intrusive route, but more exposed.  I prefer to do this but I'm just worried about where it is in relation to boarding and exiting.  Am I overthinking this?  Is this an OK location?:

Or do I turn it this direction, get it behind the bulkhead and route it under the deck?

Or angled down into the deck and under?:

By the way, this is about how far it will stick out, should I get shorter nipples or is this typical?:

Thanks again for all the help, I wouldn't be able to do this stuff without you guys!

Shorter nipples, route the way YOU think is best, trust YOUR judgement, hook everything up, and have a beer!!!
