The resort and casino has their own electrical generating station. They are adding a new generator and I have to add it to the control system.

Now you just have to get them to send you there in the winter instead of up to Canada!
Are the gensets turbines or diesel? For an operation that size they must have a good size power plant.

Rick, the first swirling cloud and I'm on a plane for Miami
Jim, they have 2 Wartsila (sp) diesels @ 2 MW each. They are permenantly mounted inside a building. That's not always enough, especially when one needs maintenance so they just put in a 1500kw trailer mounted Cat. This resort is huge. The resort electrical load can hit 20% of the entire island's load. Permanent population is only 36,000.

I wish, but I doubt it. If I could scrape up the free time, it's $480 for 1/2 day. Not in my budget.

This is not a cheap place.
Cheapest room off season $239
Breakfast $22
Lunch $24
Dinner $42
These prices are in the casual grill. I refuse to set foot in the fancy restaurant.
800 number phone call $0.52 per minute - God forbid one dial a direct call.
My Verizon cell phone shows "NO SERVICE" even though I pay for the ability to use it internationally
Oh well, the resort is the customer so it all gets billed back to them at a 15% markup.
Did I mention the $1200 per day that GE charges them for my time? I wish I got paid the percentage of that that I think I'm worth.

So, are you there now? If so, at least they provide free web access.

This in the news today...
WASHINGTON -- Taxpayers who gripe about long returns have nothing on General Electric Co., which filed a 24,000-page tax return this month.
It's all those expense reports of yours!
