Osprey 245 - Switch Panel Replacements Suggestions
« on: April 08, 2013, 10:14:01 AM »
All,

I am starting to do some research on a replacement switch panel for my Osprey 245.  I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on a quality unit that would have 10 switches including a 12v cigarette lighter.  Some of my needs are:

1)   Min 10 switch horizontal bank (Need)
2)   Have a three way switch for Nav and Anchor light or just Anchor light (Need)
3)   Cigarette lighter style outlet (Desired)
4)   Indicator light on switch when in use (Nice to have)
5)   Backlight for switch function (Nice to have)

I have looked at Blue Seas which seems like they only sell 8 bank units so I would need two of them..  Hoping there was a better alternative out there.   I have searched through a couple threads and it seems there are some custom boat builders that may have sold the switch panels so any info on that option would be welcomed and I would be open to a custom build if it would not break the bank.  All suggestions welcomed.

I believe The Marine Connection in Ft. Pierce still has some of our switch panels left.  That is where I bought mine, brand new, ready to plug and play, I think it was around $165 complete, ready to go, brand new.  Search the forum for "switch panels" you will see some previous threads on it

There is a panel maker called Viking panels.
What is really nice about his  is that they are backlit
Really kinda cool.

Thanks guys.. I am going to reach out to The Marine connection tomorrow (need to take some pics of my current one) but it's nice to have a backup if a original replacement cannot be found.  Do you all have any opinions on the ones that Blue Sea makes?  They are not inexpensive, I would need two horizontal 8 gangs.

Keep in mind I would need two..

I recommend making a diagram of the switch panel you want and then contact Ultra Panel Marine and get a quote.  The Blue Seas switch panels are good quality.

The Blue seas looks nice but $155 for a panel with fuses and not circuit breakers seems spendy to me.
