John, thanks for the post and great pics. Glad you're in town this week.

She's pretty much a shell. The chipboard at the transom is temporary support.

Gunnel cap is in upside-down position. Sit on top livewell imported from Fla. Last pic is original '75 flip-back seat salvaged from Miss Marco.

Thanks again Cap'n John :thumright:

1. How many gallons is that tank, looks huge
2. How do you plan on running the plumbing for the livewell?
3. What are those yellow things on the gunwales? Im guessing Floor support, but they appear higher than the stringers

Looking great, do u think she'll be ready by summer?

Tank is rated at 75, will hold 82.
The livewell plumbing will run inside and beside the port stringer. The rear tank bulkhead will be cut at the top to allow passage for the hoses to the stern. Inch and a half will exit the transom, hole is there but may not have shown up in the pic. Clamshell pickup, 3/4 inch in front of engines.

The builder also does aquarium work for the state...those yellow pieces are hollow fiberglass FRP girders. They are below the stringers about 1/2 inch, allowing for a "crown" in the floor down the centerline.

Hey thanks! And expect her to be rigged and ready by April. Then take her out and see if she'll eat chicken

Someone (who shall go nameless) finally decided to send me some more pics. I will let him describe them.

A few more.

I wish I still had my chopper gun.

So Scott, I have a question about this last pic. Is that spiderweb gel or a guide coat?

Are these moulds?  Is it that easy to make a mold?  Some MDF and then spray it with a release agent?

Lew, THANKS in a big way for this :thumright:

The last two pics are not my boat. It is not an Aquasport. It is that 21 Seamark we were all talking about several months ago, the Shamrock/AS clone. Looks pretty cool though, right?

That is the first one they have made in a while. It is an AC fir floor and transom, splatter coat interior, wide washboard gunnels. This boat is going to Chesapeake for commercial use.

Rick, yes, that is the floor mold and the tank hatch mold, yet to be cored. As you have described is pretty much how they are made. He used melamine to build them. You are looking at the bottoms: all of the floor hatches are recessed. We went round and round on this, it will be more $, but I'm planning on keeping her. And when it is necessary at some point to deal with the tank....it won't be with a Skilsaw.

The small boxes are the molds for the port and starboard aft boxes. Starboard side will hold the fuel filters and exit for the engine rigging.

The oval thing being held in the air is the beginning of the internal mounting base for the livewell. Thanks Eugene for this tip, we removed the external lip on the livewell base for a cleaner install.

The red non-skid is a close-up of the molds for the casting platform deck hatches. They were taken from Fitz's hatches. Thanks Fitz!

Since the tank was out...took some pics of the bulkheads, false tank floor, and cutouts for the rigging runs.

The console was taken to Gore Bros. here in town for the Sanchez Bros. top to be fitted/altered. We are going to make the top longer on the front, and get rid of the downward curve at the front. Plus beef it up and add some layout rodholders, spreader light mounts,  running light mounts, and electronics box, and drill all of the rigging holes. Then powder coat everything to match the gel.

It is coming along pretty good now. And as Matt said, when the floor goes in...things should really pick up.

Thanks guys! Lew, thank you again :thumright:

Scott, the glass work is excellent!! :thumleft:  :thumleft:

Couple suggestions on the top and console.  You're going to have an e-box, right?  Have them cut 1" holes in the aft legs, then weld short legs going to the sides of the top for wire entry.  A whole lot cleaner than just a hole out of the leg, a hole in the ebox, then covered with spit-loom.

Second, nothing wrong with attaching the aft legs to the console, but that area has to be beefed up substantially.  The reason that earlier model 225/245 Ospreys went from that type of design to a top design where all 4 legs t/bolted to the deck was stress cracking around the aft leg mounting flanges.  Core that area at least 12" X 12" to spread the load, and no foam, it needs to resist compression.  Coosa would be a good choice...

She's looking good!!!

Thanks SB...looks like professional riggers think alike :thumright:

You would like the boys up here. Only one way, the right way.

Ditto on your e-box suggestion...already done. They have also added second legs to the front console for additional support. Plus two additional  inline aluminum bars fore to aft for structural support/mounts, etc. And legs with drilled circular stanchions mounting to the box.

The console is an Onslow Bay 20 guide, new gen.  Taller, narrower, syn.core all around, including the electronics front. Above deck cored base (interior console floor), with toe kick below.

The console core material I'm not familiar with. Not Coosa or Nida or Divinycell.

Thanks!

First pic is the floor out of the mold. Lines shown are where the melamine joints bedded a bit. (Not joints in the core)

Large forward recessed hatch goes in front of the console.

Second pic, coring at transom end, so you can see the layup.

Last pic, starboard stringer, exit for chase.

I think this is looking through the transom.

1. Tank coffin, tank floor, forward casting deck bulkheads, rigging cut-out through starboard stringer

2. Livewell rigging cut-out port side through rear tank bulkhead, drains from tank floor, livewell/washdown pump mounting plate

3. Transom hole for 1.5 inch livewell drain. Many layers: glass/glass/coosa/glass/coosa/original outer transom glass.  The plug was really neat...in my truck somewhere

4. Stern view of cored floor, with transom sump at center

5. Starboard corner rigging cut-out (transom corner box to install above),  transom sump
