My mako transom

Here is how my '75 23' Mako rebuild is coming. I rebuilt the transom to a full one and did it with coosa board. Its not too far from getting a porta bracket.
I just shot the boat with gelcoat sanded and buffed then added those fancy garboard plugs and lift rings.
If you want to see more go to classicmako.com, the project boat section, and look at my boat.

I'll get some of the interior, today. After today the floor will be ready to go in.
I found those plugs in Tampa, and have seen them nowhere else. I have looked at stainless all over the place. They are awesome; I was hooked when I saw them.

How much were those plugs? Would you pick some up for me if needed?

$14 each, and yes. I think we may try to start selling them on the site. I already have lots of people asking for them over on classicmako.

Oh crap! We just got the photo gallery thing up now it's on to selling stuff? By the way Wilson, you need to lead by example and start posting picks in your gallery. You can have seperate albums; like one for photos of your glass work, one for photos of your gelcoat, one for photos of Captain not helping, etc. If you can't figure out how, just post in
http://www.classicaquasport.com/forum/v ... c.php?t=98
and I'll try to lend a hand. I'm sure if you are having problems, others are likely to run into the same issues.

I fear what I don't understand. I will try to post the pix of the interior in there tonight.
Don't get on him for not helping, he's went on vacation as soon as he bought in!
I think you would be VERY impressed at all the things he hasn't done.

Man that transon looks good. What kind of gun do you use to spray gel-coat? My buddys doing some work and he is making a mold brushing on gelcoat then layering up glass, we were wondering about spraying it. We refinsh furniture so we do a good be of spraying Laquer and were wondering about shooting gelcoat.

Great job wilson it looks better then if the factory did it. Did you use the hi density 3/4 inch coosa for the transom? I didn't do the transom in it but i did do my floor in 1/2 inch coosa and bag it. The coosa board is the stuff.
I love the plugs give me the manufacture if you want so i can find some.
Thanks

Just go to Mahoney's, I wish I knew the manufacturer, I really would try to sell the damn things. You can't find them anywhere and they are awesome. He just says his stainless guy brings them and drops them off. Do you do much business w/ them?
I used 1.5" Coosa Bluewater 26 for the transom. Its the same only I didn't have to laminate the sheet together. It came as a solid sheet with the roven in the middle.

Do they have some sort of backplate on those plugs so that they stay in a little better rather than just the two screws that you can see?

no just a tight fit from a 1 1/4" hole saw and some 5200. They aren't going anywhere.
