He might hate everyone doing it and I'm just lucky enough to have a friend who is friends with that fella, so I got word that "that guy in the green express" was waking his dock and he was angry.

He'll get over it...

And if it was me, and the next time I saw him flipping you off, I'd come off plane, all the while looking at him, then swing the bow on over, head straight to his dock, and ask him..."Sir, is there a problem?"

As love2 said, you're throwing a lot less wake at speed than plowing at 1200 rpm.

He can apply for a REAL NWZ designation. In the meantime...let the big dog eat :wink:

If I were to do as I described, and the home owner did as you described, I would simply video the guy (camera at the ready), call the LEOs, invite them on over, show them the vid, and let THEM haul the stupid SOB off to jail!!!  Threatening ME with a firearm on public land!!!

I AM young and spry enough to take cover...


And that would be the LAST time some stupid old phuck thinks he owns the effin creek/river/whatever!!

We don't know what we're dealing with here. They make movies about "Grumpy Old Men" for a reason.

When Mom was in the nursing home in her last days...I saw some things from the old gents that would make your toes curl.

Don't pull over there. If you'd like to clear the air...call the deputy out, take him for a ride on a decent day, explain the situation. He can go over and speak with the property owner. You've done your part, have shown neighborly concern, and hopefully there will be closure :thumright:

VA law prescribes a NWZ within 50ft of pier, moored boat, etc. One half of me (the redneck half) wants to set a marker at 51ft from his pier which I will subsequently kiss with my hull at 18knts from hence forward.

The other half of me (the dare-i-say-it...maturing half) wants to spend the extra minute it would take on each ride to idle past his place...problem is, I know it's gonna burn me up this summer everytime someone else jumps on plane before his place.

What I'm truly looking forward to is my buddy's dad has just purchased a 30' boat that is on its way up from Miami...he doesn't possess that "maturing half" of his personality and now that I've told him about this guy, you can bet that while my 30 footer may be undecided about running past his dock on plane, the one on its way up from FL will surely not be so hesitant.

ETA: John Jones, while I won't go looking for trouble, and will try to avoid this fella unless he's flagging me over to share a tasty beverage, you can rest assured that while I may forget my wallet and occasionally my wife's birthday, rare is the day I forget my .45.

Check your local laws. They very greatly from state to state.  Here in NJ you cannot have a wake within 200 feet of a dock regardless if its marked.
