Check my post over there, Scott.  Looks like beautiful weather, looks like your Dad is working to catch up to you in his Cobia!  Had a big boy following you there a bit...

We used to fish down that way (Kissimmee chain heading to Lake O), but in the summer, crappie 'til you didn't want to catch anymore!  Winter time fishing is a beetch!  Did you try to find any deep holes out in the lake?

Well we ended way out in the lake, went north on the advice of a guide and ended up on the north lake shore, crossed the open lake to get back, 32 miles, but no time to fish it it was getting late, funny thing to me was the max depth out there we ran across was 11 ft.

That's about the size of it for a lot of inland "fishbowl" lakes in FL.  I used to fish Big Lake Toho in Kissimmee a lot.  There were some areas in the middle of the lake, miles from shoreline, where you could hop over the side of the boat and be chest deep...

Grew up fishing Lake O, then my wifes parents lived over there for about 10 years, loved going out during the Crappie Run, when you would drive the boat up into the weeds (1-2 ft of water) put a minnow on the cane pole, and slowly drop it down into a clump of cat tails or tall weeds, those giant Black Crappie would jump on it so fast, just one after the other, then heading back to the house on the canal, and cleaning fish for the next 2 hrs, with a huge dinner to follow!! Man.. the good Ol' days!!
