215DC Deck Hatch Seals and Supports

I'd like to get some gaskets for my deck hatches (2xfishbox and centerline storage box). They allow too much water in when i wash the boat. Has anyone found a decent gasket for these hatches? I realize it will be impossible to keep all water out but some would be nice. The hatches need to be flush with the new gasket too.

Also, has anyone installed hatch supports for their fishbox doors? If so, what type did you use and do you like them?

Many towns have a rubber/gasket house. Take the old ones by...they will duplicate.

Scotty, young man, there are no originals to duplicate, the hatches didn't have seals to begin with.  What am I going to do with you?

I brought them in at Proline, they worked pretty damn good.  What you want to do is get some modeling clay (some of you guys are familiar with the "little clay soldiers"), form the clay into little peaks, place the "soldiers" on top of the drain gutter, then close the lid tightly.  Open the lid and measure the height of the "soldiers".  This will tell you the thickness you need to get...

Bob, do you recommend the seals that sit in the lip, or the edge seals that fit over the edge of the hatch?

My 2004 DC came with gaskets on the fishboxes and the ski locker. They still fill with water when it rains or I wash down the boat. They both have troughs or gutters around the boxes. The ski locker's drains into the locker's little catch basin and then to the bilge. The fishboxes gutters are suppose to route the water to the deck scuppers. When the boat comes out of storage, it's on my to do list to figure out why this is happening.
In answer to your question, one of my fishbox covers delaminated and during the repair I had to replace the gasket. I got some at West Marine that worked pretty well, but not cheap. Just peel and stick. (not shown in pics)

Craig, I recommend the gaskets that sit on top of the gutter drain dams (what we call them).  That keeps the gutters as open as possible.

Skyliners hatch are built using the VEC process (http://www.vectechnology.com/applications/marine.cfm), so they are completely uniform in all dimensions, thicknesses, etc.  Older hatches are hand laid up, so glass thicknesses, gel thicknesses, they all vary.  Edge trim/seals is a PITA with older hand laid hatches...
