1979 176 Family Fisherman

Hello all!
I recently bought a 1979 176 Family Fisherman with a 1988 Mercury 115 hp. I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with these boats and/or motors and if there is anything to look out for. Thanks.

We be few and far between.....
I don't know much about a 1979 176 FF
But I can sure tell you some stories about my 1979 222 FF that I've had for 23 years  :lol:

Must be a good boat if you've had it so long! I'd love to see a picture.

Does anyone know how long Aquasport build the FF line of boats?

The 176 FF is fairly rare - Aquasport only made it a few years in the late 1970s.  It was gone by the 1981 model year.  The FF model in 196, 222, and 246 continued until the Genmar days.  The 246FF and 222FF used the same cuddy section - same size bunks, etc.  The 246FF just had more space aft of the windshield.  The 1981 and later FFs used the deep-V hull from the CCP - most FFs made in the late 1970s used the modified V hull from the Open Fisherman (became the Osprey later).  For a while in the 1970s you could get an 22-2 FF with either hull - deep V or modified V - Aquasport basically used the same liner for both.  FFs are solid and handle water well for their size.  The 22 and 24 footers were designed for single or twin power and had I/O options as well.  

A 115 on a 176FF should be a nice running setup - welcome to the site!   :salut:

Thats a nice little boat you have there!  There is a nice clean looking FF at a pawn shop near my house.  I'm guessing it is a 19-6.  I'll have to stop and get some pics of it sometime.
