Sloppy, but the Bluefin got in the boat

Not the best gaff job, and you have to wonder about the block and tackle tied on to the t-top, but they got that bluefin in the boat...   This is why my transom job will have a door:   :thumleft:

Good stuff. You get the idea something "happened" with that block and tackle/T top arrangement....the video abruptly ended.

Oh well, for what they sold her for, they can easily replace the T Top

The Cone sisters had an amazing stash of art in their apartments in Baltimore!  The Baltimore Museum of Art collection is mostly based on what came out of those apartments.

Matisse?  You guys say Matisse?  You know Maggie is/was an accomplished artist, had some pieces in the Winter Park art festival way back when.  Of course that study included art history, many classes.  Renoir, Chagall (one of her favorites), van Gogh, Picasso, Reynolds, Sargent...

Lord, have I heard about art over the years!!!

We're going to Duke on Saturday for a romantic, artsy post-birthday celebration. Carolyn was an art major at UK.

When you see the Masters in person....pretty impressive. Hope they have a few Van Gogh's :thumright:

This is a VERY cool exhibit :thumright:

A little history:

Moses Cone was a Russian Jewish emigrant to the US, 1870. As a young man, he pushed a peddler's cart in Baltimore.

He saved his money, and moved to NC (Greensboro). Within a few years, he established Cone Mills. By 1903...he was the largest producer of denim... in the world.

Moses became fabulously wealthy. He bought the entire town of Blowing Rock as a retort to his social rival Vanderbilt and the Biltmore Estate in Asheville.

Of course back then...A/C didn't exist. The East Coast monied wintered in Palm Beach and summered in the NC mountains...or the Hamptons. Travel only by train restricted transcontinental options on a seasonal basis.

Moses had the big bucks, and back then, the eldest son took care of his unmarried sisters. The sissies spent many years in Europe...focusing on collecting Matisse and Picasso....even when they were unknown, struggling artists.

Later...the Cone sisters toured the world...and purchased important African, Indian, Persian, and Chinese tapestries, art, and objects d' art.

John is correct in saying the Baltimore Museum of Art  is  mostly comprised of the collections of two adjoining sister apartments in Baltimore, circa 1920.

Good stuff.
