An old friend came by today...for a re-wire
« on: December 29, 2012, 01:41:02 PM »
1995 Wellcraft Scarab 302 Sport for a re-wire...

viewtopic.php?p=104095#p104095

We built hundreds of 302s back then, even a few for the Sarasota Police department rigged with twin 7.4 I/Os.  She is/was a beautiful boat, the entry was sheer poetry...

Pete, Marc, Bryan, that e-box look familiar?  She even has the same fishbox lid...

Nice boat!  Why the rewire?  Doesn't look bad from the pics...

John, she's a 17, going on 18 year old boat, and her wiring and equipment show it.  Too often, only the topsides are taken care of, whereas the wiring is ignored, as well as the equipment, which on a 302, well, some chit just ain't no fun to get at!

What my customers want is a boat that they know they can take out with the family and know everything is going to work, work properly, so that they can concentrate on the reasons we all go out...to have fun, to catch fish, to relax!

She's also going to get a lot of new LED lighting, as well as some lighting, fans, and power ports in the Bimini cabin forward.  This is one boat that, even though some aspects of her are a real PITA (I beetched about some of the same stuff 15 years ago!), I am excited to get into.

I always complained that the use of the WC 240 CCF console (wider than the 220 CCF console, the same console used on the earlier 225/245 Ospreys) was just too wide when coupled with the radar arch/top.  I'm a skinny fella, and it is much more comfortable for me to slide by the arch area, rather than just walk forward.  But they didn't listen to me...

I agree with the rewire, it is a good idea.
I don't have that E box
The console is the same though.
I just dropped my boat off at the local shop
(Not so local, Dana Point)
for some upgrades.
I will post end of Jan.

I really like those Scarabs, I almost purchased one.
35 ft Super Sport.

I am sure you will do it right Bob.

Bryan,
Hated the 35 Scarab Sport console, especially the head down inside, but loved the "dance floor" forward of the console!!

Actually started delving into her late this aft (gotten chilly here!!), doesn't have the fresh water system like most of the 302s did, where the water tank was bolted to the aft wall of the console, so I get to play without that thing in my way!

Jose Gaspar's 250 is waiting on some parts (ordered, but with Christmas, and New Years...), she is basically done.  The Pathfinder as well needs some parts (owner ordered... ), so I can spend a little time on the 302...

Yepper, Pete!  I tell you what was fun...installing the e-box AFTER the top was installed...on the boat!  We would run out of them on occasion.  Getting your fingers in between the glass top and the box to t/bolt it...yeah buddy!!   :x  :x  :x

Hey bob did you ever work with a guy named Glenn Naroth? His wife and mine worked together for years... I stood in line with him for 5 hours to vote this year and we talked hours about the old genmar lines and other stuff he worked on. He worked with them for a while I think.
