I thought several times about the spray rail but never put one on, so, I can't answer your question.  I just know I loved that boat, actually had two of them. They had two different console arrangements and I had one of each.  The only time I didn't like it was when it came time to fill those tanks.

Been thinking on the spray rail idea.

On the Hatt it was probably a plus. On our boats,they are mostly installed on flatbacks. Never seen one installed on a deep vee Aquasport....not that its wrong.

That boat of yours looks good as she is...may look a bit weird with the rails...maybe not. Run it and see how she does in the wind. You have a nice offshore hull. With a lot of fast hulls, the spray ends up mostly behind before it gets a chance to blow in, if that makes sense. You can always install them down the road.

Spray rails seem more effective on a flatback or a mod-vee, 22 mph cruise sportfish. I once put them on a 20 foot wooden boat, and thinking back, the effort probably wasn't worth the reward.

Hi guys.  I bought Keith's 281 in 2003.  I still own her and have recently added a stainless marine bracket and upgraded the engines to 225 Yamaha's.  Keith was running 250s, but sold her to me with a pair of 200's

Hey LOX

How did you do the transom?  I am getting ready to do mine here in the next 2-3 weeks and it would be great to have some info before I start ordering materials.


I spoke with GRAN (Scott) and we actually only live about forty mins from each other.  He has a contact to do the work but I think I need to do the structural to save a few bucks and let him either gel-coat or paint to finish it up.

I did a test spot on the hull about a month ago and my gel-coat is in very good same and with some buffing can be restored.  I was wanting a paint job on the hull, but right now that isn't as important as getting the topsite looking fresh and I want to close in the transom before I coat it.
