« on: December 17, 2012, 04:11:17 PM »
1986 28'10" center console rebuild with full transom and twin 225 suzukis on a bracket . Photos coming soon !! Any info on this hull wold be appreciated. Would like to know the original weight etc ! Boat was gutted mostly and some improvements made including an in deck live well and new tank with an all aluminum console . I've heard these boats were few and far between and Aquasport only made around 50 or so .

That IS sweet. Don't see any reason why she wouldn't run in the low 50's.

I'm with gran,  low 50's.  I had two.  Dryhull is 4750#.  I had three different power setups.  Twin 150's, 200, and 250.  The motors were not on a bracket and I would expect low 50's with what you describe as your finished product. I got mid 50's with the 250's and right at 50 with the 200's.  The 150's would hit mid 40's.  The most efficient setup fuel wise was the 200's. That was with two gas tanks. Used to run both motors off the front tank till I drained it down a little and then switched over to both motors off both tanks.

Ran into a guy once, at the boat ramp, that had been busted for running drugs in a 271 Osprey.  The 271 was the same boat as the 281 just different years.  They only made the boat in 86 and 87.  Some weren't titled till 88.  Fifty was the number I heard as to the total made of that model.  He told me that they removed the front tank for space to haul the drugs.  Loved mine.  It would drowned you but never pound you.  It rode like a tank but I could get up in less than two feet with the motors tilted up.

Keith do you think a spray rail will help or cause some pound ? I used to run a Hatteras 45 and we put a full length spray rail , we dried her up a bit but she would bang on a quarter sea . I don't know if you have ever put one on these hulls and if you have what the degree was ? I appreciate the info on this hull , I wanted a wide platform to start with and this boatb" turned me on " I watched it go from one person to another and finally waited the guy out to get tired of the project , I watched all he did to it and picked it up for a good price and as you can see I'm almost done !
