Bruce,
6500 lbs from what I can gather...

What does your Explorer and trailer weigh in at?

I'd have to go look at the scale ticket...  but I think it is about 6800-7000 or so... unloaded

I actually have a 2000 Tundra, 8 cyl, 4WD.  Don't know if it makes that much a difference.

I have the same truck model but an '06.  I think max towing is 7000 lbs if I remember correctly.  When my 230 is full of fuel (140g), water (40g), food & gear I think I am approaching that max.

Sorry James, thought you said a Tacoma.  The Tundra with the 4.7 has a tow rating of 7000 lbs according to Edmunds...http://www.edmunds.com/toyota/tundra/2000/

Replied back, and I'll post here to see what those more "familiar" with these types of situations think...

Quote
James,
I assume you are taking the boat to these shops to get an estimate that you can present to your insurance company. They gave you the option to take it to the shops of your choice, and therefore will accept whatever estimates the shops give. Sooooo, you ask, what's in it for the shops? Somebody with knowledge of structural and glass has to take time out to do a thorough analysis of the damage and the cost to repair on their own dime...basically.

This whole thing should be on the insurance company's dime, including any estimate gathering, and the costs associated with it...

She's been reduced $1500.00.

She's been removed from craigslist--maybe sold.

NADA says about $12k is average.  Very nice looking in the pics but don't know what the trailer looks like.  What about 10-11k? Although, she's at a dealer.

Also at a dealer and the first 215 I really looked at.  Unfortunately, no hardtop but she and I suspect the engine are both 2002.

And this one.  Also newer.

Boat #1- Clean for her age, 225 is the right power, don't like the starboard (old style) bilge access door...

Boat #2- 150 will be under-powered for a 215.

Boat #3-  Nice.  200 will do her right.  No hardtop, yes, but a bimini fixes the shade issue.  Don't really need to have the top to mount antennas (can stick a GPS puck on the dash)...

I'm going to see one of these boats tomorrow or Tuesday, probably number 3.  I still like the $15k 245 if they don't lower the price a little.

Boat number three looks like a nice deal.  A 200 will push that thing good.  Full hard top and only 200 hours?  Is that a DFI motor?  if it is she will sip gas.  Trust me dealers will take much less than you think.  Just toss them a cash offer.

Well am I not paying attention today or what?  Boat #2 mixed up with boat #3.  Start with $12.5K on boat #3.  But, and I'm sure Bruce and Scott will attest to this, the cockpit room of the 225 and the 245 is sweet.  But then, you know that, James...

Fellas, I went and saw the 2003, 215 this morning. The boat looks new. The shop says the owner had it dry stacked and it looks it. She's very very clean, never been bottom painted but... for my purposes, her fishing area is too small.  Looks like my boat cut in half. I think it was especially eye opening since I've actually been on a 245. I still plan to look at a 225 this weekend but I'm probably gonna make an offer for the 245 if the insurance guy comes through with the money like he said. Anyway, thanks for reading.

Oh yeah, the 215 comes with a full enclosure, a ficht 200 direct injected motor and no trailer.
