Baltek Airex PXc Composite Boards?
« on: March 27, 2013, 07:29:41 PM »
Is anyone familiar with Baltek Airex boards (24 lb density) for composite transom material?  I found  a local boat yard that uses it for rebuilds, and can apparently get it at a reasonable price.  Supposedly this material was formerly known as Penske board.  Before I order some, I wanted to see if anyone knows if there are any downsides with it.

I did not realize that the Baltek Airex is the same as Penske when you asked earlier. Any of the glass reinforced urethane boards including Penske, Nilaboard, Coosa, Kcell are pretty comparable. What is your cost of the Baltek for a 4x8 sheet?

Thanks Eugene.  I didn't realize it either until I did some more searching after I asked you.  I don't have an official quote yet, but he thinks it will run me about $225 for a sheet of 3/4".
