hydra-sports 2200 dual console
« on: November 06, 2012, 11:18:48 AM »
I know this is an off topic boat, but my dad is looking at a 1997 hydra-sports 2200 dual console. Any one have any experience with these boats?
Thanks
Oliver

I have the Aquasport version (215 DC) and really like it. While most people like the open fisherman models, I prefer the DC. Several reasons are one you don't get as wet in the rain and rough weather, you also don't freeze your butt in cool weather when running around, and you can get out of the wind. There is also much more comfortable seating. The boat rides nice and doesn't pound.

When I went shopping I didn't even look at any open fisherman, but that is me.

The boat your interested in will probably be similar.

Pb, you're right, they are a neat layout. A add-on half post at the helm frees up a lot of room for fishing.

Another cool thing, talking about staying warm...you can put a curtain beneath the windshield walk-through and really button her up.

I have the clear plastic between the top and windshield and the curtain between the walk through if I choose to use them.  Only takes a minute to snap them on.  Another plus is storage space in the dual console.

Yeah, I like the dc layout also. He has kinda been looking a boat to kick around in for a while. He used to have a 20' sportcraft center console. He sold that a few years back, but has started to feel the itch again. I have been looking for an as sandpiper dc like a 222, but this hyda-sports may be the best deal. He built a house for a woman a few years back. The boat was at the job, it was her dad's, but he has since died. So they are going to sell it. She offered it to him for 3,800.00 It has a 1997 ocean runner 150 on it. He thinks it might be a 20 footer instead of a 22, but he is going to look at it today. He said he has not seen the boat in a few years, but it was really in good shape the last time he saw it.
Talk about a dual console, check out this mako, 28' dual console.

Yeah, that is what I am trying to do, set it up like that Mako. A mix between that and a 30' dorado. I love the look of the dorado, and I love that big bow. Long and narrow. I am trying to stretch my 240 to get close to that kind of length to beam ratio.
