wax for fiberglass
« on: May 30, 2006, 10:50:16 AM »
Could anyone tell me the best wax to use on fiberglass?  I know that there are many out there but I need some opinions.  The hull looks good but wanted to bring back some shine to the inside of the boat.  Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Depending on how dull the gelcoat has become you could consider some mild rubbing compound.  3M makes some good stuff that cuts pretty quickly - again it all depends on how bad it is.  Mine was pretty bad so I used the 3M stuff and a buffer, worked great.  You can then put a coat of teflon wax with some UV inhibitors in it to make the shine last.

If you don't need to go that drastic then use a good Marine wax and lots of elbow grease.

3m definately, if you need a little more than just a wax, try the 3m color restorer, awesome, the harder you rub it on, the brighter it comes out, and a one step process

Everyone around here recommends Collinite Fleet Wax as well as their other fiberglass products.  Do a google search and you will come up with tons of comments on different forums.
