Boat looks great Bruce :thumright:   Glad you had a good trip.  I know first hand that is a long haul towing a boat but looks like it was well worth it :!:

Personally, I would not sweat the gel coat cracks.  Boat looks great and that is just the nature of the beast with older boats.  Mine has some as well    Congrats again and enjoy your new ride :thumright:

Looked at all the pics, nice boat wing!on the port stern is there a bracket for a ladder?looked like it may have had some holes patched on the transom wall, where the ladder brackets go.does it have the freshwater washdown in the transom door area?I really like that hard top, definately the TM top,be sure to check all the welds for cracks, they can be repaired pretty cheap.Thats alotta boat there, looks good, enjoy!

No ladder or repairs from one.  I think that is the only option this boat didn't have is a Armstrong dive ladder.  But I plan on adding one down the road.  The hard top frame is in surprisingly good condition with no corrosion and no cracks either.

I plan on taking her out in the lake this weekend.

Just north of the GA line now.  Just checked again...  now a buddy bearing is friggin gone!  On top of that the trailer has ez lube axles!  What idiot puts buddy bearings on those?

Just a follow up on this issue I had with the trailer guy's in NC putting buddy bearings on posi-lube axles.  Guess what? Another one popped off last weekend!  The Monday after I made it home from NC I called the trailer shop to complain about the buddy bearings and asked them why they would put them on top of Posi-lube axles.  The response they gave me was "Oh the guy that did the bearings tried lubing them and the zerk fittings were plugged up"  yeah right I saw the kid that did it and I doubt he knows how to tie his own shoe laces.  Well Saturday I picked up some posi-lube hub caps grabbed my grease gun and decided to see if the grease fittings really were plugged up. I wiped the grease off the zerk fitting..  they looked perfect.   I put the grease gun on the zerk fitting... squeezed the handle... and yup they took grease!  So as I thought they were full of crap!

On a side note after looking thru the pics of the boat, it is hard to believe that is the same boat I have now!   Talk about night and day!  I love the boat, we have been having a ball with her, having a good time with friends and family.

Odd, I guess those fittings must have unplugged themselves.

The next trailer place was thirty miles south...the other thirty miles north. I was unfamiliar with either place. I told Bruce coming in that these guys were the only game close by.

I grew up with these guys, and trust me...they beat to a different drummer. Had it not been for me growing up with them....Bruce would have been another tourist.

Everything there is a "rush". Not right, but otherwise...he could have been spent several days here. And trust me...the local boys don't give a rat's ass about a tourist.

The trailer from the seller was purported as "recently serviced." It wasn't, which was the reason for addressing the trailer before Bruce arrived.

Sorry for the bearing issue. But I found Bruce a very nice (hardtop, Rupp's, Lee's, low hour motor, clean hull) 12,500 dollar boat in Florida on the cheap-cheap here.

And that's the bottom line.

Sorry Scott, didn't mean to draw you in...or maybe I did.  I mean, Wilmington is a fairly decent sized town, correct?  On the water, correct?  And that outfit is the only game in town?  Sounds like an opportunity...

They're not the only game in town. They're the only game within thirty miles...to the north, then to the south.

There is no question that Bruce wasn't treated right, and I hate it. And although he got a crap job, they put him ahead of the local boys and performed a "rush" job. Crap job all right, but at least he was looked at.

Otherwise, he would have pulled out of here going south with a trailer the :*: dealerchit we dealt with claimed to be roadworthy, and fit for the interstate. Sure as hell could have been worse.

Plenty of opportunity here for a good trailer place. And in all seriousness...a great rigging shop. We talked on this a few years back, before you began your business.

Bob, You would do a great job anywhere you choose.

You would be welcomed here, and have plenty of work...and work backed up, trust me.

But....that ain't you. You enjoy  life there at the ranch. You have Miss Maggie, and Baby Girl....am I missin' somethin'?

Oh this is nothing on Scotty and I didn't want it to sound that way.  Just kind of a follow up on what happened.  I'd say I was treated kind of like a drive thru customer.  And we all know the Joe Pesci rule on drive thrus..  "They F#$% you in the drive thru!"  At most they got me for $40 bucks for a pair of buddy bearings.  When I called to bitch about it they said they would send me some $$$ back on them.. of course they didn't send it.   In the end I scored a SWEET boat that was a real diamond in the rough.  At times I almost feel bad for the poor old guy that sold it.  The dealer did him a real injustice.  If they had just detailed the thing they would have been able to get thousands more for it.  But what did they care, they had a guaranteed grand for a commission so even if they sold it for a few grand more they would have only made a few more bucks..   But I get over those feelings real quick!    All I have to do is pop off the other two buddy bearings and replace them with the proper posi-lube caps I already have.  So I'm better off than I thought I was when I first picked the boat up.  And that has been the case all along.  This boat just keeps getting better and better.  So thanks to Scott for helping me get the boat I have aspired for for a long time!  :thumright:
