The motor is hung, I just got the call . . .

. . . a minute ago but there is one fly in the ointment, that is, apparently now the helm steering reservior has sprung a leak, this is after I had them make up new hydraulic lines as the old ones were kinked in a couple of places in the splashwell, the thing is, there was no leak when using it last season and no leak when I brought it there, but for $689 they are putting in a new steering cylinder and ram for the motor/steering so all will be nice.  I guess after almost 20 years, it is a good idea to get a new system as time would probably cause a seal to fail somewhere and that would be all I need out on the water, so he says that he'll have the system in tommorow and we'll be on for the weekend and I'll probably pick it up on Saturday and have pics of the new Merc on here Monday, oh happy days, I can't wait.

I absolutely will.  As it should be done tommorow for Saturday, I might be buddy boating with my friend who has a Scout so we can get some shots of our boats in action and I will definitley get some shots of the boat with the new motor hanging off the transom along with the new steering ram and all.  Hopefully by Monday I can post them up which I will definitely do.

What brand hydraulic steering does your boat have?

My '83 has Hynautic Hydraulic steering. I have replaced the steering cylinder twice and rebuild it once and the helm was also replaced and it now leaks again! This has been over a twelve year period.

If I knew then what I know now, I would have replaced the whole system!
