plastic badges

Anyone ever copy or remake their plastic badges?

I still have my original HIN plate on the inside of my transom but have noticed it has really started to weather lately... I'd like to keep it or have a copy for the "cool factor" and originality... Has anyone on here had an experience with how to make copies/molds of existing pieces? I've done a google search but wanted to know from people's experiences on here...

And as I side note- might be kinda neat to get a member list going or (sorry for uttering the word:) Spreadsheet of our boat HIN's with the year- might help narrow down the method they used to identify our boats.

mine's a 74 22-2... # K405.

L2F,
You've been around the Forum for quite some time so I'll assume you are familiar with the "Registry" threads for some of the different models, like the CCPs, Explorers, FFs and a few others. Usually those members who start them ask for HINs/hull numbers (like yours) but don't always get them.

A data base would be nice, still someone would need to pull it all together.

Something that's always intrigued me about your hull ID that I mentioned when you first got the boat is that the ID for a 74 should be an aluminum plate affixed to the port side aft area that forms the vent box on the interior wall. Your boat is rated for 230 hp. What are your hull ID numbers on the port side exterior transom just below the rub rail? That ID tag you show is for an older model like pre 72. I have a '73 although no longer legible has an aluminum tag in the location I described. I worked for an AS dealer in the mid 70's and we (dad) owned 2 new 22-2's in '73 and '76 and they both had the aluminum plate ID and both were rated for 230hp. I would love to find a replacement aluminum tag. If someone can find one; I have access to a sister company in Wisconsin that can make the tags for us. The company is Mcloone metal graphics in Lacrosse, WI They can make exact replacements if we have an original to work with.

This is a pic of Skoot's 1975 19-6.  Change the HP rating, weight capacities, and model number.  :thumleft:

That's the correct capacity plate used since '73...

I'll check into it... Like any other manufacturer; they're not going to get excited about making 2 or 3 of them.

I have my '72 170 Custom plastic plate on my work bench.  It looks just like your 22-2.  I thought I would get a trophy shop to make a brass plate w/ the same info.  I would weather but sunlight wouldn't hurt it.
I am interested in restoring my \"new\" `72 Aquasport 170

I've done a google search but wanted to know if anyone on here has any first hand experience copying thier badges (the raised plastic/polymer badges, not the plaque style). Looking for websites or experiences of what to avoid or look out for. thanks!
