Who can you trust now a days?
« on: September 10, 2012, 06:45:17 PM »
I’m pi$$ed off. I was out, at the garage working on the boat I’m restoring for my grand kids. I went out the front door and left the frond storm door unlocked. Some sob, walked into the house and stole the $525  deposited, I had put aside for the bracket for the boat and three personal items, that can‘t be replaced. To get to the door with out being seen by me. A person would have to park up the road and walk 200 feet on my property, thru my wife’s garden, up the steps to get to the door and know it would be unlocked. Then you would have to go in the house cross the living room and into my bed room. Then know where I had the money. They did this and left $10 in quarters on my night stand and didn't disturb anything. The police figured that was done to keep me from noticing it right away, which I didn‘t. They also think it was two friends I trusted, that knew I had taken the money out of the bank and had it at home.  But as of right now. They don’t have enough evidence to arrest them. I was told to stay away from them. So the only thing I can beat the hell out of, is my hanging bag and my blocking tree. I want to do more but can’t. You know how much that pi$$es me off, when you can’t do anything. Man is that frustrating.

Dude that SUCKS!  There is I hate than more than a thief.  When the police told you to stay away from them did they wink at least?     If not I would have asked what they were going to do about it.  They should at least find the two in question and ask them about it to see what kind of story each of them comes up with.

Friends, Walt?  Friends?  Who TF are these people?  Known them long?  More like just "aquaintences" that you might have over once in a while, maybe share a beer?

You know what they say, with friends like that...

Guys I’ve known them for 8 years. They don’t have much and some of that is their own fault. I’m not in any way bragging, but, I’ve given them future and clothes, we were not using any more but was still in very good shape. I’ve also given them scrape metal to sell at the scrap yard to get money  to help them, when he was out of work as well as much more, to help them. Until they are arrested. I guess I shouldn’t let what the police say effect me. But I feel betrayed by them. The police told me, in cases like this, 99% of the time, its friends or family and that is what sucks. Also the police, I have nothing but respects for them and have many of them as friends. My son in law is one, at the fed. Level. But right now, their doing nothing. We haven’t even heard from the detectives who are working the case. Its been two weeks and I’ve stayed quit about it. But am now to pi$$ed to stay that way.

You got any REAL friends who might want to accompany you on a visit to these "so called" friends place of residence?  A little "positive reinforcement" to get them to come clean?

Hate to say it, but if they are stealing, your money is long gone (drank, shot up, snorted, smoked, gambled, all of the above), so unless there are prints on the scene, OR A WITNESS, you are SOL...

And most likely prints won't do any good, since you've been associating with them for 8 years, all one has to say is that you showed him where the bathroom was in your bedroom...

They knew you were in the garage. Probably heard you out there working.

I know how you feel. Violated. I've had inventory stolen, one time 16K, the other time 14K. One was a former employee, another a "friend".

Let it go. That's all you can do, otherwise, it will drive you crazy.

It says in the Bible that we must forgive, and the Lord will sort it out at judgement day. That way, we're free to live life at peace.

Sorry you've had to deal with this. Anger, sadness, betrayal, regret, etc....same thing with family issues

I feel for you man.  I had a family member steal about $3500 worth of guns and power tools.  Same M.O.  Very selective about what he took so it would not be noticed.

Well like Scott says. I’m a Christian and  need to move on and hope the police can do what is needed. But my astrological sign is Gemini. And my twin who ran me from 66-69 wants  me to reactivate him and let him solve the problem. And some times, he is hard to shut out. And the more pi$$ed I get, the more he wants control.

I feel for you and your lost money. Never let anyone know you have money laying around, someone will take it. You can't trust anyone these days, not even your family in some cases.

Just from reading your story it is clear that the thief was someone who knew you, and knew how to get past you and into the house. They also knew where to look for the money.

Unless you have a witness or prints the police can't do much for you. They can interview the suspects but if they don't confess to it they have nothing. They are not going to drag anyone to the police station and grill them for 12 hrs like you see on TV. If they interview them at all it will be a a five minute talk. "Did you take the money"/ "no I don't know what your talking about". End of interview.
If the Detectives have no further leads( prints/witness) the case gets closed.

Don't take things into you own hands. You might be wrong about who the suspect really is. It won't get your money back, it will just get you in jail.
