Raw water wash down pump?
« on: August 13, 2012, 11:14:26 PM »
Hope this is the right place for this

Wash down pump took a dump last weekend :(

It is a Shruflow 3.5 gls per minute

Anyone got advice on somewhere I can order on line?
Wouldn't mind getting a pump with a little more pressure, this one was a wee bit on the wimpy side   :?

Darn thing only lasted 15 years

Starting to think I have maybe hung on to this boat too long

Get a Johnson pump - 5.1 psi.  Someone here recommended it to me and I'm glad I went for it - I have a Johnson for raw water washdown and a shurflo 3.5 for freshwater washdown.

Inherent problems with any Johnson is the swelling of the prostate valve with age resulting in reduced flow. :( but....

I don't think you'll go wrong with that model Bill. :thumleft:

My pump went bad last month. Tripping breaker/not pumping.
Found a new one online for about $150 but decided to take mine apart first.
It turns out its a really simple pump and as long as the motor still runs its easy to fix.
I think its call a wobble pump because it doesn't spin, only the motor spins.
Anyway under the pump housing there was a sealed bearing that was frozen up.
Ordered a new bearing online for $2.75 and its as good as new.
