Ahoy mateys. I know I've asked this before but I'm going to ask it again. My 2000 215 Osprey Dual Console is in need of fishbox lid repair. I have 3, one long one down the middle between the dual consoles, and 2 in the stern, on the port and starboard. The lids are attached to the deck with Gem Lux hinges. The hinges are secure where they attach to the deck, but where they attach to the lid are in need of repair. They seem to be attached to the lid with a screw through the top, which fastens into a piece of hardware that I don't recognize, I don't know what to call it, and where to get it. The hardware looks like a metal washer, with a threaded cylindrical attachment projecting on one side, almost looks like a top hat. The cylindrical part is inserted into the hole drilled into the lid from the bottom, and the screw screws into it from the top. It also looks like after the screw is secured, the part that projects from the hardware is snipped or hacksawed off flush with the hardware so when the lid is closed, the bottom of the lid sits flush with the lip in the deck that is supposed to keep the water out.
Here are some pictures. The first is of the hinge looking down on it with the lid closed:
This is of the hardware with the lid open. This is an example of a hinge that does not need repair (except for the rust):
This is an example of a hinge badly in need of repair:
And finally, this is a picture of the screw and unidentified fastener that I'm looking for:
Do any of you recognize the hardware? Know what it's called? Know where to get it? Know the proper size to order? Is this original Aquasport hardware? And, am I correct in assuming that after screwing the screw, the end was cut off?
If anyone can help, I, as always, would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
Dave
