Need help identifying a boat from the HIN.
« on: August 01, 2012, 08:25:59 PM »
Hi everybody, I just bought an Aquasport that was supposed to be a 1980 20' Osprey.  I'm pretty sure that isn't right so I'm hoping that somebody can help me identify exactly what I've got.  The boat registration does say Aquasport 20' but that's about it.  The HIN is ASPPO164M78G79MDL.  Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks a bunch,
Mike

Are you reading the HIN from the title or from the boat.  See if you can get a pic of the actual HIN in the hull - usually starboard side outside of transom - and post it up here.

Here's a start:

It's the same on both the transom and the registration.  It's a little corroded and kinda hard to see but this is the best picture that I could get:

And here's a picture of her in full:

I've got the tarp on her temporarily until I can get either a real boat cover or a metal shed to store her.  The t-top is definitely not original since there are some pretty large spacers between the t-top mounts and the center console.
