back from trip
« on: November 27, 2011, 06:11:21 PM »
took the boat up to my parents place off the suwannee river in dixie country, fl.

ran total of about 65 miles. boat ran great except for the last 3 miles back to the ramp. the the flywheel decided to puke 2-1/2 magnets out...

first trip with the f150 over the highway with a load since the suspension build. 65-70 mph couldnt feel it there got better mileage than i was expecting. averaged just over 8 mpg over 350 miles towing the boat, and loaded with 800 lbs in the bed...

anywho, heres the album

Those springs are really neat! I also would love to try that slide out when the water is higher.
So whats your plan with the flywheel?

the depth at the ramp was pretty shallow, had to leave the jackplate up to back out, river was LOW. my friend jason said he has no problems getting his boat all the way into the spring durring the summer when water level is higher

i got today and tomorrow off, gonna pull the flywheel, check if any other damage was done, then go from there. also gonna try to pull the lower unit either today or tomorrow, time to change the waterpump and gear lube

Hey Aaron I don't know if you saw this over on THT but Scream and Fly had a meet on the Suwanee over the weekend of Nov. 18-19. This is a link to a couple of videos that Mr. demeanor took with a Go Pro cam on his 13ft tunnel hull with a 130 yamaha (stock) other than a 30 labbed cleaver prop. 83.1 mph! His is fast but check out his buddies boat absolutely leave him near the end of the run.

Hey Aaron, sorry to resurrect this thread after so long.  How close is your parent's property to Mayo? I stayed at the Suwanee River Rendezvous Resort a few years ago, and I remember traveling upriver from the campground to a big beautiful spring just off the river and Scuba Diving the spring.  It was over 100' deep.  Are you familiar with this area?  I'd like to bring the boat down to the Suwanee with the wifey this year.  How's the water level?  Is the water higher or lower during certain times of the year, or is it something that you just need to check?  Thanks bro

we are about an hour south of mayo, via highway, and probably 2 hours by boat. the level changes throughout the year, its lower in the fall/winter, but can depend on if theres a storm in south GA. the river is flooded right now. once the river reaches a certain height parts of the river are no wake due to the floating debris. we are going up there on thursday, staying till tuesday.

we are off of palm forest road and 349

let me know when you want to come down, im sure we could get some of the others to do a run.

Man those hydroplanes can haul butt
I had a 10ft hydroplane when I was 15 or 16, had a 25 Johnson on it and it'd do 45 - that was fast for me, being 4 inches above the water.
