Wheel hub material
« on: July 03, 2012, 07:46:30 PM »
Had a hub bearing go out on me the other night and before I realized what was going on the hub got chipped up pretty badly. So I was going a search just to see what was availible and see that there are Cast Iron and Galvanized hubs...

Is there a big difference or anything to look out for?

Thanks!

All the hubs are made of cast iron.  It's just a matter of the protective coating on them.  They are either unfinished, black paint/powder coat or galvanized.  For a boat you want the galvanized if you can find them.

That's what I bought for the 170 a few years back - everything is stainless and guaranteed for life.  A few members have converted their trailers to these axles.
