I upped the size limits to 1024x768 and the gallery will size the pics automatically if you load larger ones to it.
We'll have to see if those pics are too big for posting and causes unnecessary scrolling (that's why we had it set to 800x600), I am hoping most people have larger (17"+) monitors now with their resoultions set to 1280+. We'll have to see how it goes.
There are some "forums" in the gallery, like Rebuilds in Progress that should be used to show one or two pics of your boat in progress, I think you should start a topic to document the entire rebuild. Another is Aquasports in Action - a great place to show a couple pics of your boat in motion. Same with Pride and Joy - a few pics is plenty there - start a topic if you really want to show her off.
You can also create sub-folders in your gallery as you upload your pics. A good way to create NEW organization - not sure I would try to move pics around due to the links that may have been posted to topics already.
Here is what a large pic looks like posted in a topic. I uploaded it and it was 3000+px wide and the system handled it and converted it down for us.
Glad it's back
This little thumbnail is also a way to show a small pic that can be clicked to show the large one in the gallery.
I'll document how to post pics from the new gallery soon and add it to the "how to post pics" thread.
Rather than start another thread, I'll trust members will re-read this one.
That stated,
There is a very large number of photos and documents in the Forum Photo Gallery. Some members have quite a few. GoneFission has 99 while RickK has over 500 so....
I was trying to navigate through the photos and stumbled on to something (thanks Rick) that you may or may not realize.
SOP was I would click on a member's name, I got the tool bar on the left and a blank screen for the photos. I have been then clicking on "Photos" (duh) on the left only to see about a dozen or so pics and then trying to navigate through those.
The key is not to click on "Photos" but rather "Statistics" which will bring up the statistics page and there is a row named "Number of pictures" with a number to the right. Click on the number. This will bring up the photos and now lists the total number of pages (of photos) in the upper right corner. This makes navigation much easier and prevents repeat views of the same photo. For those members like myself who where unaware of this method, I hope it makes browsing the Gallery a little easier. Lots of really good stuff there.
Enjoy.
