Question for 170 owners

I have a question about the front folding cover on the 170 center console. The boat has fresh paint and I don't want the folding cover to dig into the console paint like it was when I purchased the boat.
Has anyone used a rubber seal or any other type material to keep this from happening?

Kraw,
I plan on applying a strip of rubber along the top lip of the cover, ths keeping it from closing completely. That's the idea at least:)
