What antennas will work with Garmin 2010c?
« on: June 28, 2012, 10:54:26 PM »
I just got one used from a buddy, but he's keeping the antenna...

Garmin wants almost $200 for the antenna (17x).  Are there any comparable/compatible alternatives or knock-offs that are worth looking at or should I just shell out for the high dollar antenna?

Thanks,
Ryan

Unlike some Garmin models, "antenna" is a misnomer on this unit.  The 17 series "antenna" is the actual gps receiver.  I doubt you will find a knock-off but I may be wrong.  Your buddy is wasting his time keeping the old one unless he is going to use it with another compatible Garmin unit.

Most of the older Garmin units before the 2006C actually used an antenna and most any knock-off with a BNC connector would work.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know...and it somewhat justifies the price.
