1996 Osprey 175 Coast Guard Capacity Label
« on: June 23, 2012, 08:53:09 AM »
The label indicating max hp, weight capacity, and number of passengers has been faded and scrubbed to the point that it is just a shiny piece of foil. I had a courtesy CG inspection recently and they asked about it. If someone out there has the same year (or within a couple years) could you post a picture? I'll print it and keep it with my paperwork on board. Thanks in advance.

Got a 98 175 but not sure how to pm or post pics. I'll be out on the water tomorrow and will store a pic in my phone.

Once you put the photo on your computer, you need to downsize it per the forum size limits. Right click the photo and use the "open with Microsoft Office Picture", then "edit Pictrures" then "resize". Under the "predefined width and height" box, there is a pull down for "documents small - 800 x 600" click that and then ok. Exit the program and when promted to save unsaved changes, press yes or ok.

Back on the forum, hit the "post reply" button and a new page will pop up. below the big box you will see a box named "filename". click the "browse" button next to it and find your file. Then click "add the file", and then the "submit" button.

Thanks for going out of the way!

Guys,
It's much easier nowadays due to the rebirth of our Photo Gallery. There are "pinned" topics on using the Gallery in several of the individual forums but here's the thing. You don't need to use a third party host or to even re-size, as we have had to do for so long. Save your pic to your PC and then open the Photo Gallery and find your name. Follow the directions found in the above mentioned thread. The Gallery does all the necessary re-sizing to fit Forum requirements.
So easy, a cave man could do it.

Good luck.

I sent an e-mail to Harborview Marine in Pensacola that had a 2002 Osprey 175 for sale. John went out of his way to take the picture below and send it along, nice of him to go out of his way.

Capacity is 6 people or 900 lbs, 1450 lbs including motor (probably 300 lbs in my case), people, and gear, and a max power of 120HP.

Granted, his was a 2002, but I can't imagine that it would differ much during the years the 175 Osprey was in production (1990-2005).

It's a shame they switched to that mylar(?) type label. The old metal one's were the ticket. I wish I could find a 91 WAC label. Mine's nothing but shine.

I searched for boats for sale and called or sent e-mails to all with the same model as me. It looks like there the 170 striper was only made 2 years 1987 and 1988, so you might have a hard time. There is a 1988 Osprey 170 on Boat Trader - not sure how different the models are. Good luck!
