Jackplate on my 170 with a 90 Yammy-height recomends

Finally Mounting Motor & Jackplate on my 170 with a 90 Yammy
would like to get it close to my application the First time.
I have a few Skinny spots that I have to "putz" thru with the motor as high as possible to get to open water -that main purpose for the jackplate.
Do not have a low water pick-up-Do not want one-Been there done that-
Any recommends as to where my Cavatation plate should be all the way up & down to the bottom of boat or any thing else to look for.

I like to have my cavitation plate 1" above the keel all the way down.  I don't have a problem with blowout in corners or rough water.   The right prop could allow you to run much higher.  But at 1" you will be ok with a stock prop.

i have my cav-plate about 1 inch above the keel when all the way down. with the prop im running i tend to be running the jack plate about 1-1/2 inches up... ive never had a problem with blow out or rough water but i am running a 4 blade prop  with a good amount of cup. i can get on plane with the plate 4 inches up and stay on plane with it all the way up, but i start loosing water pressure around 4 inches... i
