Key West in August

Heading down to Key West in August for a few days to fish and lobster. Rented a slip at Garrison Bight Marina while I'm there, anyone with any experience staying there?

No, but please tell us how your trip goes/went ... sounds like a grand adventure.  

I remember as a kid - 1966 - looking down off of the seawall at Garrison Bight and seeing a jewfish as big as a loveseat tied up to the seawall.  Someone had speared it or caught it on line, and it was just sitting there half submerged, like a dang two man submarine. Wow.

Nice! one of my friend's parents have a house on the salt flats canal- there are some HUGE grouper hanging out in the mangroves across from their seawall.
Looking forward to checking out the waters down there and hopefully avoiding some of the madness that is early lobster season but still being able to find some bugs!
read a bunch of threads so far and everything seems mixed as far as resident tarpon still bring around usually, good wahoo fishing in the stream, and still some permit fishing.  I'm pretty excited to just spend a few days on the boat down there- regardless of what ends up on the line/cooler!
