Boca Grande Ramps?
« on: May 15, 2012, 12:15:29 PM »
Is Uncle Henry's still the only usable ramp on Boca Grande?  Not sure what they are charging now, but was curious if there is anyone else that allows launching.

Right before the boca grande causeway their is a public ramp and a private ramp, the public ramp is a quarter an hour and the private ramp is $5:00 a day and their is security to guard your stuff, I recommend going to the private ramp its name is Eldreds.

Thanks!  I know both well.  I use Eldreds when I stay on Little Gasparilla.  Keeping the truck/trailer there is so convenient.

I am looking to see if there is another ramp on Boca Grande proper.  I have a TownHouse I'll be using for a week down by South Beach Bar and Grill and really don't want to drive all the way to Uncle Henry's.  Let alone off the island and have to pay to get back on.  Unfortunately the townhouse does not have any dockage.

There is a county boat ramp downtown Boca Grande right by the Pink Elephant. Never used it but have picked clients up there before

The innlet will charge you $50 launch fee unless you are staying there.  They are really quick to put their chain back up after someone takes out, but if you're quick you can launch uncharged.

Last weekend the Public Ramp just before the island had a bag over the pay station which means it's free until they fix it. With the dollars that place brings in, I'm sure they've fixed it by now.
O yeah, they put up one of those self serve ice machines at the public ramp that sells 20lbs for $2.00.

Great info - THANKS Capt Matt!
I wonder how one would find out about using that ramp?  Guess start with Chamber And go from there.

While going by, could you tell the condition?

Ramp looks in great shape, lots of the Boca grande tarpon guides from out of the area launch and pick up clients right there.

GOT THE SCOOP!

That ramp is strictly for approved Boca Grande Fishing Guides Association members.  NO public access at all and only those with "THE KEY" are allowed to use it.

Two Ramps on the island that are "Open to the Public."
1) Uncle Henry's which charges $20 round trip and free parking along the street.
2) The Innlet which charges $50 for non-guests and $20 parking fee.

Decided to bite the bullet and get a slip at the Boca Grande Marina.  While I plan on using her EVERY DAY, I am worried about growth.  I stayed a week on Palm Island and used their slips (Rum Bay docks) .  After a week, there was small barnacle growth all over.  I am hoping that the water over at Boca Grande Marina is cleaner and has more movement than at Palm Island.

We shall see.......

Well, since you are asking me - YES!  If you ask my wife..."A little."

Plan is to get out at daybreak everyday on the beach and target the cruisers.  Not going to do the pass as I dont have a worthy second hand.

I am hoping that the threadfins are easy to find.  Any help or direction for bait close to my arrival would certainly be apprecaited!
