Ok so I've got something on my mind for awhile.

The cooler seat at the helm of my 175 was not drilled in all the way by PO.  Tank had been replaced at some point and never screwed it back down all the way.  I attempted to screw it in all the way and the screw stopped when it hit something.  So I very lightly drill a little deeper to see what it was.  The drill bit had shards of metal on it, so I of course stopped.  Hmph..What the hell is metal in there?

To give you an idea of where the screw is: its the back right screw holding my cooler seat down, outside the width of the Plastic fuel tank, in the stern.

My first reaction was that it could be the rigging tube..Any ideas of what I might've hit?

If the tank is plastic as you were told....you may have hit an aluminum strap tying it to the stringer.

Ok that could be it.  The tank is most definitely plastic as I can see it through the hatch in front of console seat.

The screw is not above the tank, also.  Aluminum strap could still be an option.
Are rigging tubes made of plastic usually?
