Fly rod storage on 170
« on: April 22, 2012, 04:08:57 PM »
How do people store fly rods on 17's.  The under gunwale storage is long enough (I think)  but the teak holders are too close together. I'm not sure if the rail will be in the way of side of console holders. Any ideas?

I have seen flyrod holders that go in the side of the console rod holders. You could always make fly rod tubes for the tips and use the under gunnel storage. this would be the safest

I like the side of console rod holders but the console rail is kind of in the way, I feel like the rods would be constantly banging into the rail. I would have to wrap the rails with something. I think the best thing will be to make new racks under the gunwale.  Still that is only 4 rods.

I could also mount the console rod holders to the front to of the console though this could get in the way of seating which is not exactly plentiful on this boat.
