Super simple puller can be made with some flat bar, 2, 1/4-20 bolts and a 3/8-24 in the center.  The 1/4-20s get drilled and tapped into the hub and then you can tighten up on the center bolt and even whomp on it if you so desire.. I had to do the same thing with a Teleflex steering on my Sport 15 and an old International 504 tractor and it worked great.   The tapped holes are hidden by the hub cover so no one will ever know..... 8)

I was on the road visiting in-laws and yes I had a GOOD time!  I got lucky and married well......

This is the little puller I made to yank the wheel..  You just need to drill and tap your hub for the "pulling" screws...  The flat bar is a peice of 5/16 I had laying around.. The carrage bolts are 1/4-20 and the center is a 3/8-24.. And they are as long as they need to be to reach down into the hub...  Good Luck!

Nice.
I have something like that somewhere that I made years ago.  It's buried in the garage somewhere.

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys :salut: dburr, thanks for sharing that photo and decription of the tool.  Might end up having to resort to that.

Pete, have not got it off yet.  Waiting for my neighbor to come over and give me that extra set of hands.  Going to try the most popular suggestion having him pull while I hit the top of the nut.  If that doesn't work, I will sacrifice the steering wheel to get it off.  I guess the good ole destroyer wheel is a thing of the past anyway

It have soaked it with PB Blaster for the last two weeks.  Hopefully, that has done some good.  I will post how I got it off (if it will come off)

When you start yanking on the wheel, watch out for it beginning to bend if you want to keep it. That is why I made the puller, those spokes are not big enough to be able to stand the force you may put on it and they are and absolute B%¥£!!! to straighten out.  If you don't have the flat bar, a hardwood block will work too.  (I had to do that to ge a 70 Merc flywheel off..). Hope it goes well!!!

I went through this exact situation on the same wheel on my 250ccp just six months ago.  I did everything you have done, steering wheel puller, hammer, pb blaster, etc.  Weeks and nothing but frustration.  I finally took a hacksaw to the shaft behind the wheel and cut it off.  While that didn't solve the problem of freeing up the wheel, it did free it up so I could replace the steering box.

The key is "the key"  I dropped the wheel and remaining shaft on the ground by accident, heard a "ping", saw the shaft key fall out and the wheel came right off.  Focus on on the shaft key.  Drop a punch on it and hit with hammer vs. applying pressue to shaft and hitting shaft head.

Finally got it off    Tried the pull and hit the shaft method and would not budge.  Spent $17.00 on a gear puller with the 2 adjustable claws and had it off in 2 minutes.  I have used that gear puller in the past and nothing beats it in my opinion.

Thanks for all the suggestions :thumleft:
