Engine hood paint & Decals

My Johnson engine hoods paint was faded and there were a bunch of pits in the paint and fiberglass. So I decided to paint it. Well that sounds easier than it was. First the decals had to come off. They were just olde enough that they would break when you tried to peel them off. I used a heat gun and a scrapper with good results. Then I had to clean off the adhesive with 3M adhesive cleaner. Once all the adhesive was off out came the DA. Unfortunatly the pits in the paint went down into the glass so sanding them out was not an option. I deiced to put a skim coat of bondo on to fill them up. I should have used some glaze since sanding the bondo down took longer than I expected. I sprayed on a couple of coats of white primer followed up with three coats of BRP white paint. For a rattle can the BRP touch up paint gives good results. I picked up a set of decals on ebay. The decals were pretty good but someone without experience putting on vinyl graphics would never get them on right. I had to cut a tweak the stripes to get them to come out right. Here's some porn shots:

Looks great Bruce, very well done, I learned my lesson years ago with these things after screwing up some decals, keep them wet.
