I'll put put some pictures of before/after. I splurged from autogeek and got a few different compounds and stuff, some wool pads, and a backing plate for my rotary. Should be interesting.

Hahah, not for free. But if you want to swing by with it and a bunch of beer, I'm sure we could become friends and tag team both boats. As long as you pitch in something and help, I don't mind you bumming some of the stuff. I have the high speed rotary with the wool pads I just bought, and for finishing, a PC 7424xp with some finishing pads that I have had for the cars.

Edit: I see you are in Pensacola. However, the offer still stands for you or anyone else in the area.

Yeah Carl, that is in the future real soon for mine also, it sure is weird how there seems to be so much more area to cover when you start with the buffer, sort of like laying on your back under the boat getting ready to sand the bottom paint off... looking at her from the bottom side she looked like an ocean liner   Looking forward to the before and after pics

Woohooo! Got my package from Autogeek yesterday. 4 wool pads, a velcro backer for my rotary, and some #91 compound. This week the boat may be getting a chartplotter installed, but while the 5200 is drying over the next week or two, I'm going to have at least the outside of the hull buffed to a gorgeous deep shine.

The test area came out good. So good that you can see the blueish paint on the pad from the buffer 10' away from the boat. I'm not looking forward to doing the bottom of the hull. This was 2 coats of compound, 2 coats of polish, and 2 of wax.

Looks great Carl..!!

A few weeks ago I tried Presta Ultra Cutting Cream. This stuff is fantastic.

For years I used 3M Rubbing Compound followed by 3M Finesse-It and then a final polish. That always worked great.

The Presta lets you skip the second step of using the Finesse-It. It acts as a rubbing compuond and slowly breaks down into a finishing polish. There is no buffing powder to remove like 3M. You apply it start buffing until it is completely gone and leaves a super gloss. It's very clean to work with and no splatter to clean up.

We buffed my 31' boat and put 3 coats of polish on it in one day..!

When you say you used polish, are you talking about wax? I was under the impression that polish was responsible for shine, and wax was responsible for the protection?
